    Jan 27th, 2020

NASDDDS and HSRI are very pleased to release the final report on the 2018 NCI® Staff Stability Survey results.

Here is the link to the 2018 Staff Stability Survey Report.

2018 saw a record 27 states participate, with 4,400 provider agencies responding to the survey.

The turnover rate for DSPs in 2018 ranged from 30.7% to 62.7%; the NCIaverage turnover rate was 51.3%.

Vacancy rates for full-time positions ranged from 3.3% to 14.7% with an NCI Average of 11.9%. Vacancy rates for parttime positions ranged from 5.8% to 23.3% with an NCI Average of 18.1%

Across all service types, responding agencies paid a median hourly wage of $12.00. When broken out by service type, median hourly wages were:

    • $12.57 for DSPs providing residential supports
    • $12.00 for DSPs providing in-home supports
    • $12.90 for DSPs providing non-residential supports

Many thanks to the hard work of state staff as they have adopted procedures to assure participation among providers.  The NCI Staff Stability report is now a go-to source of information on the experience of DSPs in our field and is the only data source focused exclusively on the I/DD field.

A big thank you to participating states for contributing to this important data collection work.
